Our History
The Legacy of TAM
Developed by Management Consultant Albert Humphrey and his team at Stanford Research Institute in the U.S., Team Action Management (TAM) was introduced to the UK in 1971.
1980s
TAM was the major driver of Adams’ Equity Theory, the Boston Matrix and various other techniques developed throughout the 1980's, which saw Humphrey working alongside notable leaders including Igor Ansof, Otis Benepe and Robert Stuart.
1990s
In 1990, Humphrey engaged on a start-up project in Derby, UK by consultant Philip Webb. This was the pivotal moment which provided the discipline to scale TAM far beyond any expectations.
2000s and Beyond
Upon sale of the start-up, Webb became Humphrey’s apprentice, working closely for over 15 years until his passing in 2005. The intellectual property, ownership of the academic research papers, and the TAM programme was passed to Webb, which he continues in promoting and delivering, maintaining his promise to protect Humphrey's life's work.
